From Zachary (my grandson) in Iraq

Don heard on NPR that the Striker Unit from Ft. Lewis was on it's way to Baghdad. So he cannot say, but that is probably where he is.

IRAQ

Well after all this time I'm finally in Iraq. This place is alot different than Kuwait. Everything looks like blown up piece-o-shit accented by sandbags, razor wire, cement barricades and the occasional smoke in the distance from incoming mortars. I'm living in what I think might be an old warehouse that was converted into "barracks". It looks like hell but it isn't too bad inside. We actually have beds now and they are outfitted with the finest linen I've ever seen. We all got like brightly colored blankets with designs ranging from blue flowers to leopard print. We also have nice pink floral sheets that seem to have no purpose because they are too small to fit the bed. I'll take a picture it looks pretty damn goofy. I'm starting to settle in here but I'm still hesisitant to completely unpack my bags because I know the second I unpack I'll have to repack everything and move again. Thats about all I've got for now.

Until next time...
